Former President John Dramani Mahama is currently trending after he made a statement during his thank-you tour. He is on record to have said the NDC will not rest its hopes in the Supreme Court because justice will not be served.
With this, the former president believes the 2024 election will be won at the polling station with the strong supervision of party members. This according to him, will make the election a do or die affair.
His comment has made many Ghanaians wonder what the real interpretations might be, they believe his comment is a recipe for violence should the NDC be defeated in the 2024 general election. Many have called on him to retract the statement but it seems he is not ready to listen.
Communicators of the NDC have already started developing strategies to defend the comment by likening it to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo’s “all die be die” statement.
Just as Ghanaians were busily contemplating on the matter for a possible solution, beautifully designed T-shirts with the colors of the National Democratic Congress have popped up. Green and white, which play important roles in the colors of the NDC have been used to design the neck and hands with the umbrella neatly placed at the top left corner. An image that is not very clear is also placed right opposite the umbrella.
Black, red and green colors have also been used to design the shirt with “DO OR DIE” boldly written in the middle. It is unknown who is the brain behind the T-Shirts but there is the likelihood that it will be in the public space soon.
The question many have been asking is that if the NDC is planning to use the Do Or Die comment by the former President as a slogan for the 2024 election.
We cannot confidently point accusing fingers at the NDC for being behind the printing of the T-Shirts but it will be very shocking if it is finally revealed that they are behind it. This is because the comment by the former President has been condemned by many so for the party to use it as a slogan going into the 2024 election will be another issue altogether.
The rival party can as well print the shirts and make it sound like it is coming from the NDC. For now, let us keep our fingers crossed and wait for large quantities of the shirt to hit Ghana and its background will be known.
