Upper West  GRNMA Holds Election; Retain More Than 80% Of Regional Executives at Regional Conference -[See Photos]
The Upper West regional Branch of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association has held its delegates conference at “Napogbakolee” a suburb of Wa at their Hostel conference hall.
The conference attracted many from diverse academia within the health profession,delegates especially executives from all eleven districts and municipalities including regional executives in the upper west region who are equally voters.
The offices contested include chairmanship,Vice Chairmanship,Public Relations Officer and deputy including Treasurer where deputy treasurer,Secretary and deputy secretary position went unopposed.
Each aspirant were given two minutes to present their manifesto before the delegates and podium.
A total of Sixty four delegates that composed of five each from eleven districts and municipalities and nine regional executives bringing the total number to sixty four.
The Vice chairman position had to take a runoff since each of the two aspirants Sebastian Kpibaaryiiri and Kwaku Walwuo could not hit more than half of the total vote cast.
In the runoff Mr.Walwuo beat Sebastian by four votes with one delegates absent to cast the vote.

Mr.Jonathan Anyagri Akpadagu who is a Deen of students at the St.Joseph Hospital at Jerapa gave a powerpoint presentation on the effects of drugs and substance abuse,he was optimistic that two out of every ten health workers takes alcohol which he think is dangerous to them and to society.
Mr.Jonathan in an exclusive interview with the press said “the upper west region is in dying need of a rehabilitation center that would accomplish the rehabilitation necessity we bedeviled with as a region, he also charged law enforcement authorities to looked out for those assisting in the abuse of drugs in the region and country in order to avoid many that are yet to go in”
He said the society should not ostracized or stigmatized addicts but to counsel them be born again for the good of mother land.

Mr.Jonathan was of the firm belief that a collective fight in drugs and substance abuse would if not solve the problem head-on but at least limit it for the benefit of society.
