A piece of information convened by BROADCASTGHANA has it that the Ghana Immigration Service has interdicted five of its officers for aiding illegal entries into the country by foreign nationals through unapproved routes on the Ghana-Togo border.
These five are stationed at the Aflao Sector Command in the Volta region.
The Officers are Asst. Inspector Isaac Ahiafor Agbenyega, Asst. Inspector Sarah Adubea, ICO Juliana Anning, ICO Jennifer Owusu and R.O Joyce Nketia were interdicted on Thursday, 9 July 2020 for engaging in an act which constitutes an offence under Section 52(1) of the Ghana Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573).
A statement from the Immigration Service said the breach contravention of the Ghana Immigration Act 2000.
Their conduct also defies the order by the President of Ghana to ensure all borders are closed to foreigners to prevent them from importing the deadly COVID-19 to the country.
While in interdiction, these Officers will be paid two thirds of their salary.
