Our portal brings to you the truth about the false news going viral about recruitment of a particular batch of graduates.

It is gathered that, Mr. Yaw Opoku Mensah, the Deputy Spokesman for the Ministry of Education (MOE) has in a post shared on his Official Facebook page on Thursday, October 14th 2021 asked the public to disregard news item making rounds about the non recruitment of 2018 Colleges of Education students into the mainstream teaching field after their mandatory national service and passing of their Licensure examination.

According to him, there is a document dated on 20th November 2019 which backed his claim. He assured the 2018 and 2019 batch of ‘unposted’ teachers from the various colleges of education, who has passed their GTLE and undergone national service yet remain not posted, that they will be posted.

Chronology of Events

According to his post the public notification for the said year groups recruitment was given on the 20th October, 2019 and eligible candidates shortlisted for posting in November, 2019.

Ghana Education Service again notified candidates of the Colleges of Education who completed in both 2017 and 2018, who were not qualified for recruitment at the time of the exercise but have since qualified subsequently were offered the opportunity for recruitment as announced in July 2020, were offered the opportunity to join the profession by applying through the normal GES portal of recruitment after satisfying the requirements needed as announced by GES.

“The Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service seek to fill every classroom with a teacher and is determined to do so as the Ministry leads the transformational agenda of government”. The Deputy Spokesperson said.

In a related development, the Education Service has the portal for the recruitment of newly trained teachers will be opened depending on the academic calendar of basic schools and financial clearance from the government.

The Office of Human Resource and Management Development of GES Thursday told the leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) they are working hard to secure financial clearance for the recruitment.
