President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after he was sworn into office promised to fight illegal mining in Ghana.
He swore he will put his Presidency on the line to ensure that illegal mining becomes a thing of the past in the West African country.
Security Agencies were put together to help fight the menace and help protect the country’s water bodies and forest reserves.
However, in recent times, Ghana has gone back to illegal mining practices.
Samples of water bodies that got cleaned up have gone back to been polluted due to illegal mining and the various chemicals used for washing the minerals in them.
The worrying state of the country’s water bodies and forest reserves has forced the President to call for a meeting with the National House of Chiefs and MMDCEs across the country to find lasting solutions to the menace.
