Early today, Bibiani town experienced an unrest as town members clashed with members of the local chief’s team over a ritual which is believed to pacify the land for mining. Earlier last year Mensin Gold took over the mining company from it former owners Noble Gold after years of inactiveness. This brought hope to the non-working youth, but to their disappointed few of them got employed. Majority with a temporal contract which expired after few months.

Earlier this year the company had started recruitment, which once again was a disappointment to the youths. Non-locals were employed more than locals. Speaking to the concerned youths, it is alleged the chief had set up an office which take money before giving out employment, leading to the influx of strangers.

There have been series of peaceful demonstrations to show concerns with the last one involving leaders from the various communities together with the member of parliament of Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal meeting with stakeholders two weeks ago. Everything changed as it was announced yesterday that the chief was going to pacify the land to pave way for bountiful extraction. To counter the cow ritual of the chief’s group, the youth sacrificed a goat on the land which is an abomination. This cause the members of the chief team to call for the service of armed personnal to abrupt a fight. At the end six sustained gun wound with others been stabbed to the extent of one loosing his ear.

After the fierce clash, the youth decided to stay on site till justice is served.
