Former Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom has finalised his transfer to former club Asante Kotoko’s archrivals Hearts of Oak, Ghanasoccernet.com can report.
The 32-year-old free agent has agreed a one-year contract after leaving Georgian club Torpedo Kutaisi in January of this year.
Inkoom, who has been training with the Phobians, is said to have impressed the club’s technical team, leading to the decision to sign him for the rest of the season.
He could be part of Hearts of Oak’s squad for Super Clash against Kotoko on Sunday.
Inkoom had planned to return to Kotoko, but the move fell through, and he blamed Chief Executive Nana Yaw Amponsah.
“Don’t blame me for my proposed Hearts move, Kotoko CEO feels big to call me. So Kotoko fans should blame their CEO and not me,” Inkoom is reported to have told Onua Sports in March.
He was publicly chastised, particularly by Kotoko supporters who value his efforts to the team.
Inkoom left Ghana in 2009 after assisting Asante Kotoko to a league title win.
Inkoom returned to Ghana earlier this year after 13 years abroad in a bid to relaunch his career.
The right-back played for 11 clubs, including Swiss heavyweights Basel and FC Dnipro of Ukraine.
He was a member of Ghana’s squad that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009 before becoming a regular for the Black Stars.
The right-back was a member of the Black Stars squads for the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, which were held in South Africa and Brazil, respectively.
