It appears Schools will not be shut down despite the latest developments in coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Following the spike of covid-19 in Ghana especially in the various secondary schools, parents and students have started lobbying for closure of schools.

The Chaiman of Ghana Education Service responding to the request stated that its too early to suspend schools.

According to him in an interview, until GES receives any news from Ghana Health Service, Schools will not be closed or suspended.

In furtherance, he said he has I receive reports every day from my officers in Accra. I have heard of some cases of Covid-19 in some of the schools.

“For me, it is to early to say that because of that we should close down schools. We depend on the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Services to inform on this matter

Recall that the President of NAGRAT ,A gel Carbonu recently called for school closure following the outbreak at Accra Girls Senior High School and some other schools which are yet to be known by the media.

Following the directive of President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo that schools should reopen to final year students to enable them write their exit exams, all final year SHS and Form Two Gold Track students returned to school on Monday, June 22.
