A Dinning Hall prefect aspirant in a secondary school in Ghana has gone viral on social media after he promised “1 student 2 loaves of bread” as part of his campaign message.
The video which appeared to have been taken during manifesto reading at the Ahmadiyya Secondary School showed the aspirant making the promise to the students who were excited.
Many people on social media have drawn parallels between the promises of the Akufo-Addo government and the young student politician.
The student’s promise to his fellows come at a time Secondary Schools in Ghana are grappling with food shortages forcing students to take their own sugar and bread to the dining hall for breakfast.
“1 student 2 bread” as a promise has been compared to Akufo-Addo’s One district, one hospital and a promise of 1 district 1 modernized hospital.
Other promises include One village, one dam; One million dollars, per constituency every year and One region, one Theatre where Akufo-Addo promised to pursue the construction of modern large seating theatres in every regional capital, except Accra, beginning from Takoradi, Tamale and Kumasi.
More promises included One district, one market where Akufo-Addo promised modern markets and retail infrastructure in every district to enhance domestic trade”.
