The District Chief Executive for Mion, Hon. Samuel Mahama has sent a strong message to Konkombas and Dagombas over War rumor which has flooded social media and various communities.
In a statement available to our portal, Hon Samuel Mahama registered his displeasure and sends an important message across.
Below is the full statement……
“As part of our efforts and a directive by the Minister for Defense Hon. Dominic Nitiwul after an earlier meeting held at Gbewaa Palace in Yendi, on the day 14th December, 2021, the District Security Council led by myself and His royal Highness, Mion Lana have organized a peace durbar at Mion Lana’s Palace made up of Konkombas and Dagombas to dispel rumors of a conflict between the two ethnic groups in Northern Region.
I urged them to continue to live in peace and harmony as they have been and should not allow any unscrupulous persons instigate them in anyway possible to engage in any conflict whatsoever.
I used the opportunity to caution the citizenry about the use of mobile phones in the following way:
Recording and sharing of audios, videos and whatsoever form that have the potential of creating confusion in our society.
The Chief of Mion commended the efforts I took and the team for such a wonderful initiative. He urged the chiefs, assemblymen, KOYA, Dagbon forum, opinion leaders, and individual present at the gathering to continue preaching peace in their communities and beyond.
Leaders from both ethnic groups gave their words of trust and promised to continue to live in peace and harmony as it has always been and will report anyone who tries anything odd for the laws of land to deal ruthlessly with them”.
