Dozens of #FixTheCountry activist who were taking part in the today’s demonstration against the 2022 budget of government have been prevented from entering the House of Parliament.

Clothed in red and black, the group, numbering 100, gathered at the Tema Station in Accra before matching to Parliament to protest against the 2022 budget which is expected to be approved later today.

However, the personnel of the Ghana Police Service who were there to provide security did not allow them [the protesters] access to the chamber despite their low numbers.

In a Facebook post, the #FixTheCountry slammed Inspector General of Police for not allowing them to enter the House.

They called out the IGP for failing the youths, stressing that the action of the police has eroded their trust in the service.

The Economic Fighters Ligue and #FixTheCountry convenors in particular are against the now infamous electronic levey. They believe that the levy, when approved will worsen the sufferings of the masses. They are therefore calling on Parliament to reject the budget.

Although the protest has recorded a very low turnout, some may argue that it is the strongest indication that many Ghanaians do not support the proposed electronic levy.
