JUST IN: 245 Ghanaian Deportees from Kuwait test for COVID-19

All the 245 Ghanaians deported from Kuwait over the weekend tested negative for COVID-19 prior to their departure, Ghanaian officials have diclosed.

The deportees, who are currently being quarantined at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram, will undergo another phase of test in Ghana, Dailymailgh.com can confirm.

“Where we have gotten so far, the test is generally negative, [but] our internal medical experts will conduct another round of test to be sure that they are truly negative,” Ghana’s Aviation Minister Joseph Kofi Adda told Accra-based Citi FM.

Over the weekend, Ghana recorded 66 more cases to increase the totally caseload to 6,683.

The update on the Ghana Health Service’s webpage indicates that the Savannah region is the fourteenth region to record the virus.

Figures posted on the website also indicate that one more person has died bringing the death toll to 32 as at Sunday, May 24, 2020.

The country has, however recorded 20 new recoveries.

Regions with new Covid-19 cases

The new cases came from the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central, Western, Volta, Northern and Savannah Regions.

The Ashanti region recorded 39 new cases.

The Greater Accra contributed 18 cases.

The Central, Northern, Western and Volta Regions all recorded two new cases each.

The Savannah Region joined with a new case.
