‘It seems the rules are not the same for everyone’ - Inaki Williams slams officiating in Athletic Club's Spanish Cup defeat

Ghana striker Inaki Williams has expressed his frustration and disappointment over the officiating in Athletic Club's Spanish Super Cup semi-final defeat to Barcelona.

The match, played in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, saw Barcelona advance to the final with a 2-0 victory.

Williams' discontent stems from an 86th-minute goal disallowed following a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) review.

The forward felt that the decision was unfair and inconsistent with the application of officiating standards throughout the match.

"It was like playing away from home," Williams lamented in a post-match interview. "I find it strange that these types of plays are cancelled. I don't think it's fair."

Williams also questioned the consistency of the officiating, suggesting that the rules seemed to be applied differently to different teams. "It seems that the rules are not the same for everyone," he said.

The defeat sees Barcelona advance to the final, where they will face the winner of the second semi-final between Real Madrid and Real Mallorca.
