Birmingham City make move for Ghana defender Terry Yegbe

English Championship side Birmingham City are closing in on the signing of highly-rated Ghanaian defender Terry Yegbe, according to reports from Expressen.

The 24-year-old centre-back, who has been a rock in Elfsborg’s defence since arriving from Finnish club SJK Seinajoki in 2024, looks set for a fresh challenge in English football.

Birmingham, co-owned by former NFL legend Tom Brady, have emerged as the frontrunners to secure Yegbe’s signature despite previous interest from Premier League sides Fulham and Brighton, as well as Bundesliga outfit FC Cologne.

The Blues are reportedly in advanced talks, with the potential transfer fee ranging between 3 million Euros and 6 million Euros - making it one of the biggest outgoing deals in Elfsborg’s history.

Yegbe has been a standout performer in the Allsvenskan, combining athleticism, composure, and leadership at the back.

In his maiden season at Boras Arena, he featured in 22 league appearances, scoring three goals and providing one assist. He also has one goal and one assist in to his name in 16 league appearances this campaign.

His adaptability and consistency have not only made him a fan favourite in Boras but also a top target in this summer’s transfer window.

For Birmingham, the signing of Yegbe would mark a significant statement of intent as they aim to return to the Premier League.
